Composer/pianist James Adler offers insightful and moving performances.

Composer/pianist James Adler has been hailed as a composer who “writes for both chorus and orchestra with uncommon imagination.” His extensive list of compositions is highlighted by Memento mori: An AIDS Requiem, which has been performed around the world and is available on Albany Records. As a pianist, he has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe, making his performing debut at 16 with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and serves on the faculty at Saint Peter’s University. For this, his third recording on Albany Records, Adler’s music and performing virtuosity are showcased. Titled Introspections, James Adler used the definition (self-examination, soul-searching, to look within) as a framework for his choice of works for the disc.

Review:
“…this CD will provide some noteworthy insights into Adler’s thinking while creating music and his expressiveness while performing it.” (InfoDad.com)

"Adler is a sensitive man who uses music to go beyond the small human feelings that sometimes unwittingly determine our own lives. ...the composer, in his introspection, shows a deep need to communicate through art." (Sonograma)

"James Adler is one of America’s leading composer" (Composers Circle, August 2015)

"Suite Moderne for Strings was a pleasant surprise -- played by 'The President's Own' US Marine Chamber Orchestra. A simple, accessible approach to music is held up by continual invention and development of ideas melodic and rhythmic. The piece is quick, mobile, and engaging."
