Those of you with great memories will remember that this recording was once available on the Vox-Turnabout series of American Music. The stunning thing about this CD premiere is the quality of the recording itself. This was never obvious from the original LP. George Rochberg needs no introduction, but Roque Cordero, the Panamanian composer born in 1917, is woefully underrepresented in the catalog. He is a composer of stature and this Quintet is a fine composition, as is the Quintet by Robert Palmer who was born in Syracuse, New York in 1915. Palmer studied at Eastman with Ernst Bacon and Howard Hanson and for many years taught at Cornell.Contents:
